So Sick And Tired Of Breed Discrimination
66What they call aggressive
Pure Stereotype
Today was not a good day. I got the mail today and their was a letter from the apartment complex I live in. I quickly opened it and it was a warning to get rid of my pit bull immediately. It claimed that he may be good with my family but he is aggressive(which is far from the truth) and a threat to the community. How can they say that he is a threat. He is well socialized and more interested in making people happy rather than harming them or anything. I laughed at their pure stupidity. They are bothering me about my 9 month old pit bull but they aren't worried about the tons of people smoking crack and weed in the halls, the heroin needles in the grass where kids play, the sex offenders, the robberies at gun point, the shootings, the drug sales, the cops swarming like ants with their assault riffles, K-9s, helicopter, and such chasing armed men who not only live in but hide out in the community, and all the other illegal and life threatening events that take place. Seriously how does a meager little pit bull(their are tons other in the community as well as many aggressive small breed dogs) when they apparently are not truly worried about any ones safety. I take my dog out on a leash, he is always kept under control, he is obedient, social, and an excellent dog. I always clean up after him and I never allow him to approach any one since I know that many people are afraid of his breed. I am a responsible and compassionate owner. I hate that this fire trap that has so many other safety issues like faulty electrical and criminal activity is more worried about a dog than any of the more important issues. My dog goes everywhere with me as he is not only mine and my families protection but my faithful companion. I have issues with anxiety and panic attacks and having him with me eases those problems. I fear going outside where I live since the town I live in and the area in general is not safe. He allows me to live a somewhat normal life because he provides me with the security to know I am safe and that he would die for me if need be. I have lived in these apartments for over a year and on a daily basis their are cops searching for people here. Does that sound safe to you? I would think not. We have decided that do to my anxiety and panic issues as well as my severe asthma that we are going to get him certified as an ESD(emotional support dog). This way they are not allowed to make me get rid of him as he is in a sense medication for me. I did my research and all I need is a doctor to write me a perscription stating that he is to remain in my home. Legally as long as I have that note from a doctor they cannot evict me. My rent is always on time, my family and I are quiet, we keep to ourselves, and we are very good tenants. If anyone has any suggestions to help me over turn their decision to make me get rid of my dog or can help me with getting him approved as my ESD it would be greatly appreciated. I am so sick of peoples pure hatred and obvious lack of knowledge. They have no clue about the true temperament of the breed they want to listen to what they hear instead. This place has more important things to worry about then making me get rid of my families protection!!!!

Ugh so sad, the responsible owners get punished while the irresponsible ones get nothing. It's a darn shame, ignorance, fear, and hate are killing these dogs. It's the same as racism, its breedism! I hope you will be able to get him certified and get the doctor's statement, I was actually going to suggest that to you lol. It really makes me sick when I read stories like this. Here we have you a responsible owner, and a well mannered, well socialized, well controlled dog and you and your dog are being discriminated against. I wish you the best of luck. Also I'm an admin on a positive pit bull site, if you haven't checked it out I suggest you do lol. Its a great place for pit bull lovers and advocates the site is

We have a pitt bull mixed with a German Shepherd. You are correct, he is a precious, sweet tempered dog. Our labrador retriever is more aggressive. The lab barks at everything, growls at other animals and has a actual "fit" when a stranger comes to the yard. Our pit mix is afraid of the wind (seriously) and rarely barks. Only once has he growled. He even runs around looking for a toy to share when someone comes to visit. He is a great defender if anyone is loud or obnoxious, otherwise a true baby!
