Ridiculous Pit Bull Haters

Okay, so I am outside with my 3 month old and my pit bull the other day when this woman who was probably in her late 30's to early 40's starts giving me dirty looks. I ignore it till she mumbles something under her breath. Then as she passes me I hear her say "fucking idiot". Confused I asked her what her problem is and she replies that people that are stupid and irresponsible as me shouldn't have kids. I kindly asked her why and she said it was because I obviously didn't care for my child. She stated that pit bulls were malicious killing machines and that it was a matter of time before my dog turned and attacked my kid. It made me laugh at the thought of how idiotic this person was. I explained to her that my oldest child grew up with a pit I had for 14 wonderful years and in those 14 years my dog never went after anyone unless she knew I was threatened. I mean come on now the dog was sitting patiently next to Gulianna who was in her stroller never taking his eyes off her. He was intent on making sure that she was in no danger. How nieve can a person be to believe that just because of the stigma behind the breed that they are all killers. In my years as a vet tech I worked with hundreds of pits and was never even growled at by one. I was only ever bit by one dog and it was a black labrador retriever. I love my little Nikko to death and he loves my family as well. He is such a good dog and allows my kids to do anything they want. They lay on him and hug him and everything and he happily responds with a wag of the tail and a nice wet lick. He is the most respectful, eager to please dog. This weekend I painted his nails with purple glitter nail polish(out of boredom) and he sat quietly as I did so. In the picture above does that look like a killing machine to you? I highly doubt it. It angered me so much to know that their are people out their in the world that are so damn hateful to such a loving breed. They have always been family dogs it is a rarity to find and aggressive one and when you do it is often the resolute of poor breeding and poor treatment. With the way many people tend to and treat their dogs it is just as easy to make any breed of dog aggressive. People chose to use the pit bull for the fact that they are not only strong but determined to please. They will do anything asked of them including fight to the death. They have an unbelievable staying power and this makes them a popular breed to use with malintent. I urge people to help protect this breed and for the haters to spend one day with the breed and see if you still believe they are killing machines. Don't judge a book by its cover. You will be amazed to see the truth behind the breed. Look into a pit bulls eyes and you will see a loving, dependable, faithful, and forever companion. A pit bull would quickly give up its life for a loved one or for anyone who is in danger. I will forever be an advocate and will try to help people to see the truth behind the lies to help change the stigma behind them.
